Lexa Richmond was raised in Midland, TX and now resides in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. She received a bachelors degree in Music Education. Lexa taught band for several years before becoming an elementary music teacher and then a middle school art teacher. She also earned a Masters Degree in School Administration.
Her first year as a band director, in 2001, a student presented a puppy to Lexa as a gift, knowing that Lexa was wanting a companion. Although this puppy did not turn out to be a dachshund, it was this little dog named Saydee that sparked Lexa’s interest into the fascinating world of dachshunds. She purchased her first show dachshund, Ch. Westwind’s Pistol SS, in May 2002. Lexa was 25 years old.
Although relatively young and unexperienced, her passion for the standard smooth dachshund snowballed and she was hooked for life!
Hialeah Dachshunds has produced 48 champions to date. Lexa received her AKC judging license to judge dachshunds in 2016.
